Bill Cosby Is Not Cliff Huxtable

To all of those who want to defend Bill Cosby and feel that you have a cultural obligation to support him: BILL COSBY IS NOT CLIFF HUXTABLE.

The man that you watched with your family, admired, and respected was a fictitious character on a TV show. Even though the show mimicked his family dynamics (Cosby was married and had 4 girls and 1 boy), Cliff Huxtable is not a mirror image of Bill Cosby. Bill Cosby is a rapist. He has drugged women into having sex with him. In fact, he has admitted to having affairs during his career and buying Quaaludes to make women have sex with him. Not even that seems as clear evidence for misogynists. The number of people defending him is ludicrous and disgusting; they are defending a rapist.

The man that you watched with your family, admired, and respected is not the only powerful entertainer in Hollywood that has done this though. Cosby was just the first one to get caught. It would not surprise me what some women in Hollywood are forced to do in order to get a certain role. What Cosby did was wrong, and his show should not be on the air. Even though many people loved "The Cosby Show", it is a factor of income for Cosby. Additionally, I know how significant Bill Cosby and "The Cosby Show" are to the black community. When I first heard about it, I said, "No, not Bill Cosby,". But I had to remind myself that Bill Cosby is not Cliff Huxtable, and Bill Cosby is the one that betrayed us. Furthermore, if you feel that you have an obligation to support him, why not have an obligation to protect the women he's raped? Their lives were destroyed. This is not an assassination of his character; Cosby assassinated his character when he first decided to drug a woman to have sex with him.
